When Life gives you Lemons

... make lemonade with this kickass lemon necklace!

I acquired a large amount of different coloured sculpy & fimo, so I went a little nutso and made a bunch of fruit jewellery. This was the first one I made, a sweet little lemon! Or should I say sour?

I sat there for a while with a pin creating all little pores on it, and am pretty proud of how it turned out! It's a short necklace that sits just between your clavicles. Looks sweet as when you wear it. I need to take a photo of it on, just to show how it sits.

Anyway, that's about all... I have a few more things to blog but I won't do it just yet. Wait a couple of days and I'll post some new shoes & art I've created. But for now, I'm busy being festive...

( ps, One sleep 'til Christmas!)

Merry Shrimpmas!

I made all the patterns myself by the way.

Holiday time.

So here I am eating overly ripened pears
and sipping Ceylon tea with milk, surrounded
by receipts of Christmas presents,
it's been quite the year.

Even though it's holiday time, it hasn't been
much of a holiday, I've got about 4 sketches
ready to be digitalized and completed into full
illustrations, an Intuos 4 tablet on the way,
a couple of pieces to be sent to new owners,
and some fliers to design for the wonderful CLF crew!

Life is busy.

Santa, for Christmas all I want is a break!

Babushkas, Jellyfish and Post Cylinders...

Just a couple of nights ago my fellow Illustration buddies
and I opened up an exhibition based at Melbourne's own E55!
I was the co-curator along with Kitty Poduska and...
well, let's face it: unofficially Shannon Keane! He did just
as much as I did so he deserves a mention ahahahaha.

We showed a collection of hand made babushka dolls and
wall art. Fortunately for me, someone dug one of the pieces
enough to contact me and after a trip the The Edge (our awesome
Illustre 2010 sponsor) and the post office, Lady Gaga will soon be off
to Sydeny to live on the wall of a happy customer!

Other than that I spent most of the night playing bejeweled on my phone,
switching couches with Alfie, Claire & Tom & being yelled at
by excited, drunken illustrators. I'm such a bad curator!

The next day I ventured into the world of sculpy once more,
after a shopping trip to spotlight which cost something around $163
of my Mum's money (by which I mean Dad's money). I picked up
a pearlescent blue that was transformed (after only one horrific
failed attempt) into magical jellyfish earrings!

They aren't perfect but I love them all the same. I'll soon be
starting up an etsy store where I believe these will feature in
all different colours. I just need to sort out some paperwork
first! ABN papers can get messy...

Now, the rest of my day will be spent baking more coloured jellies,
working on some Squid art, listening to Imogen Heap & keeping my fingers
crossed I can get this Gaga prim, printed & posted asap!

Things to look forward to?
Monday I'm meeting my boyfriend's future puppy
& having a birthday dinner for one of my best friends,
getting money from my Illustre sale to buy some Christmas pressies,
finalizing a few patterns to create a rainbow shrimp,
& more............... Life is amazing!

I'll E your 55 if you Jelly my Fish;

Ms. Bee Header & Mr. Bubble B. Gummy...

Inspired by the time I had to fight an european wasp in
my lounge... I will never forget the crunchy sound of his head
popping off his body. Sorry Wasp, but my Dad is allergic to
you! Something had to be done...

On a lighter note, here's me attacking the sewing machine
and wasting all the bobbin on silly plush toys.

I'm going to go attack my sewing machine for the 50th time
this week, this time my conquest is to create plush cookies
with magical faces. I hope they turn out. This is what I made
last night, his name is Mr. Bubble B. Gummy:

I want to make a whale army.

Tonight's the night!

The opening night of Illustre 2010,
many tears, much blood, and a copious amount
of sweat (and a little extra blood to boot) has gone
into this wonderful exhibition, the culmination
of two years work! Sixteen wonderful artists
are exhibiting a range of both 3D and 2D pieces,
jewellery, masks, babushkas, paintings, prints,
collages..... everything imaginable!
So come down and enjoy the show,
enjoy the free nibblies, enjoy... well, we don't
have any free wine we're only students, but
anyway.... ENJOY IT!
Love you to bits & pieces,

decided to catch up Twinkle on what's been going down
in my world recently...

Happy Holideers! 3hr Christmas card brief.

Tattoo design! Royal Zombie Deer for Danny Crain,
a wonderful lovely friend. This will be the second piece

him a happy dancing octopus card. :3

Flickr & CLF launch

CLF launch was amazing!

Great music, cool people and
awesome venue... and let's
not forget about the art. ;)
This piece was based on the song
'Will in your Heart' by
Drugs in Vegas, a nifty Melbourne
band of niftiness. Check them out!

(C) Amz Kelso, exclusive to CLF.

Just got an account with
flickr. Thought it was worth
mentioning. :3

Year Twelve I did my VCD final as a comic.
Not a full comic, just 4 character boards
and a cover. I won't post the boards here, (they're
cringe worthy) but I'll post t
he cover later.

Why bring this up now? I found the boards
yesterday evening and had a little bit of fun.

This is a comic page I drew yesterday as a
mock of what it might look like... if I ever
draw it. HORROR AHOY.

Monsters and Manic-Depression,
such is my week...

Midnight tea in the Octoking's Garden

The title says it all. Just a little bit of love spawned this,
love for a particular Beatles Song.... and a wonderous
cheeseburger wielding boy.

Want your Bad Romance

I don't own this Lady, or her name, but God I love her!

It was based on a vintage french poster. She's so elegant. ;)
I believe I'll be selling the original at the end of the year as a large
digital print with hand painted gold words & crown. ^____^
"IT BECOMES THE ORIGINAL" - Warren Crossett.

Speaking of the end of this year, anyone in Melbourne should check
out our end of year Illustration exhibition: Illustre!

(I did the poster design too with some help ;D)

We're presenting at Chapel Off Chapel in November,
from the 7th 'til the end of November. Originals will be for
sale as well as prints. Come down and take a gander, eat free
cheese cubes and drink our cheap piss (it's not that cheap!)...
You might even make some new friends! Wonderous. :)

More updates soon. But for now, enjoy my portrait of
our Great Lady. ;D

'Reine de Nuit'

A couple of old works I found deep down in the cesspool- I mean-
recesses of my harddrive. Not a lot of work that I've done in the
past has stayed relevant, so I was happy to find these! A lot of my old
work looks like a money drew it and then let an elephant do the details
on it. 'Ey? I like these though. They look nifty. :3

Michi Girl!

You dig?

Don't know if you guys know about this but there's a great
fashion/weather blog called Michi Girl that is looking for some
writers for a new website she's getting together! I just sent
off my sample story and image... I drew that illo all special like just
for the occasion. Based on one of my nifty lost and found dresses...
here's a photo of the dress. :3 REAL vintage, baby, can't go wrong.

I love it. ^_____^

In an Octopus' garden... the shade!

In my sick delirium I
tried for a more Jasper Wong feel...
and in some small way I think I
succeeded! Hoorah! I am in love with how
it turned out. I just wish I could remember
how I did the majority of it. :l

In a vaguely related note, I think my
shrimp obsession is growing worse....

Octopie and Shrimpie and other
delicious baked treats made out
of sea creatures...
